City of Gold - Head Chef Stephen’s pic is this renowned documentary following Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold as he explores the culinary culture of Los Angeles. It is a rousing depiction of one critic's ability to bring a city together around one table. Robust and inclusive, Gold doesn't so much deconstruct food as he infuses it with energy.

Chef - Restaurant Manager Nick’s favourite foodie film is the John Favreau directed and lead movie. After losing his job at a popular restaurant, Chef Carl Casper attempts to start afresh by fixing up a food truck. In the process, he ends up becoming closer to his family. Be prepared to get hungry as many delicious dishes are cooked up right before your eyes.

Udon - This Japanese classic from 2006 is Sous Chef Yosuke’s fave. After an attempted stand-up comedy career in New York fails to eventuate. Kosuke returns home to Sanuki in Kagawa, where udon noodles are a local tradition and where Kosuke's ill-tempered father runs a popular udon takeaway restaurant.

Jiro Dreams Of Sushi - This 2011 documentary is Chef Umji’s pic. The film follows Jiro Ono, an 85-year-old sushi master and owner of Sukiyabashi Jiro, previously a Michelin three-star restaurant. Revered sushi chef Jiro Ono strives for perfection in his work, while his eldest son, Yoshikazu, has trouble living up to his father's legacy.

Tampopo & Big Night - When it came time to pick. Marketing Manager Britt couldn’t choose between Japanese classic Tampopo & everyones favourite Big Night. Tampopo follows two Japanese milk-truck drivers as they help a struggling restaurant owner learn how to cook the perfect bowl of ramen. Big Night takes place in the Jersey Shore in the 50’s. Two Italian brothers, a chef and a businessman, must do whatever it takes to impress a famous American-Italian singer and save their failing restaurant.

Burnt - Chef Austin is a fan of the Bradley Cooper flick. Cooper plays an experienced chef who destroyed his career with drugs and diva behavior. He cleans up and returns to London, determined to redeem himself by spearheading a top restaurant that can gain three Michelin stars.

Ratatouille - Assistant Manager Harry can’t go past Ratatouille. The ever popular Disney Pixar classic featuring the tales of a rat living in France who has the dreams of becoming a Chef. Hidden in the hat of the flailing apprentice Chef, he whips up inspired and delicious dishes while learning what it takes to make it in a professional kitchen.

Waiting - This 2005 Indie film starring Ryan Reynolds is Bar Manager Damo’s pic. Employees at a chain restaurant, kill time before their real lives get started. But while they wait, they’ll have to deal with picky customers who want their steak cooked to order and enthusiastic managers who want to build the perfect wait staff. A perfect Hospo film.

Julie and Julia & Chocolat - Restaurant Supervisor Bri couldn’t pick just one either. In Julie and Julia. Famous Chef Julia Child and Blogger Julie Powell find their lives intertwined. They both discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible. Chocolat is a story of a mother and daughter move to a small French town and chocolate shop. The town, religious and morally strict, is against them as they represent free-thinking and indulgence.

Mostly Martha - This is the favourite of our Reservations Coordinator, Mery. Mostly Martha is about a workaholic chef who is forced to adjust to major changes in her personal and professional life that are beyond her control. Martha relies on her culinary skills as her primary means of communication.
